Lambda Omega Alpha is a Catholic-based service fraternity. It was created to foster a lifelong Christian brotherhood in which members can grow spiritually, academically, and socially to serve others as Christ's instruments in the community. ΛΩΑ does not limit its membership or discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion. It is our goal to assist brothers in achieving a successful transition to university life while maintaining our three virtues of spirituality, loyalty, and chivalry.
Our purposes are the following: Strengthen the Christian spiritual life of ΛΩΑ members; encourage and assist ΛΩΑ members in achieving academic success; Provide a Christian fellowship and spiritual bond among ΛΩΑ members; provide ΛΩΑ members the opportunity to become leaders in the community following the mission of the Church.
Lambda Omega Alpha began with five Catholic men at the University of Texas at Austin. They saw the need to develop a brotherhood that catered to Catholic beliefs, as well as to the needs of the individual. As a result, in 1990, Lambda Omega Alpha Catholic Fraternity was founded. The Beta Chapter of ΛΩΑ was subsequently established at Southwest Texas State University by eight Catholic men on April 20, 1996, and has since prospered under the virtues of spirituality, loyalty, and chivalry.
