Here is a Fr. Jonathan story.
When Fr. Jonathan was in ministry at the CSC, I asked him what concerned him most about his students and he told me that so many don't know God's special love for them. He said many of the Texas State students had never been loved correctly. I kept quizzing him and asking him how he was going to help the students experience God's Love then. Was it the Bobcat Awakenings, was it through bible study studies, was it going to be through homilies, talking individually to students...... He finally looked at me and said it's going to be through more prayer and prayer for wisdom. It always seemed that Fr. Jonathan was one of the most prayerful people I knew but during his CSC days I saw an even more intensity for prayer. He would say he needed more adoration time to pray for the students individually and wisdom in directing them. He would be gone for hours when visiting to the nearest adoration chapel. I said o.k., I get it--you are going to let the Holy Spirit really take all the credit along with Jesus, the Blessed Mother and the Saints because your students needs are beyond what you can provide so you are handing it over. I guessed right.
One day, I got a call and Fr. Jonathan in his prayer had come up with another idea to help his students to be "loved correctly and experience the Lord's personal love" and that was to send Colleen D'Andrea to the School of the New Evangelization here in St. Paul sponsored by SPO to bring back ideas on how to involve the students in relational evangelization and more. Now, if I would have been thinking and praying a little more I might have thought of it myself since I was involved in SPO some years ago. This was pivotal and began a beautiful spiritual growth at the CSC.
Fr. Jonathan was so pleased that Fr. Brian ran with what he started at the CSC and prayerfully did and is doing so much more. It was a HUGE answer to his prayer.
As we all know, Fr. Jonathan had a deep love of the Blessed Mother and when I first heard about the new name for CSC as Our Lady of Wisdom University Parish back in December, I could NOT think of name he would have liked better. It marks that St. Jude is doing his job and the new name marks a new growth at the CSC which is absolutely beautiful.
You will all be in my special prayers for this Saturday's special occasion!! Please give Fr. Brian my deepest and warmest regards and I will be thinking of him tomorrow as my husband and I attend the annual SPO banquet here in St. Paul and in our prayers too.
